With Vitra, Blackfin introduces a collection that operates precisely in that space, restrained, technical, and uncompromising in its execution.
Launched for January 2026, Vitra is built around a simple yet radical idea. Transparency should not be decorative, it should be functional. The front is crafted from VitraCore™, a proprietary high-performance polymer developed to challenge traditional perceptions of clear materials. Thicker than standard transparent fronts, it delivers unexpected toughness while remaining exceptionally lightweight, redefining what transparency can do rather than how it looks.
Titanium remains the backbone of the collection. Minimal components are milled from a single block of aerospace-grade titanium, entirely free of welds. This approach ensures structural continuity and reinforces Blackfin’s engineering-driven philosophy. The micro-hinge, inspired by aeronautical rivets, is concealed behind the patented Loop connection. Invisible from both front and side, it allows the design to remain visually uninterrupted, letting material and proportion take the lead.
In Vitra, function quietly dictates form. Temples and bridge hooks are not added details but structural elements, increasing stability and comfort while contributing to the frame’s sculptural presence. The result is eyewear that feels architectural rather than ornamental, precise rather than expressive.
Color is treated as substance rather than surface. The transparency of VitraCore™ is expressed through glossy finishes that amplify light, or matte finishes that introduce depth and density. These are paired with an extensive range of titanium treatments, including anodization, lacquer, PVD, and hand-brushed processes. The interaction between polymer and metal creates refined combinations with a distinctly modern, technical character.

The collection consists of eight styles for men and women, defined by timeless shapes rather than seasonal trends. Frames are available in full-titanium versions or equipped with silicone nose pads and medical-grade rubber temple tips, allowing for precise, individual fitting. Even at the level of lens mounting, Vitra follows a standard groove system to ensure efficient, universal lab processing, because technical clarity should never complicate functionality.
Every Blackfin frame is designed and produced at the Black Shelter Sustainable Factory in the Dolomite Mountains, where the brand has worked since 1971. This location reflects a conscious commitment to creative and production independence, far removed from mainstream manufacturing. It is here that Blackfin continues to develop eyewear shaped by autonomy, discipline, and respect for material.
Blackfin Vitra will be officially presented internationally at MIDO Milano, marking a moment where transparency is no longer fragile, but deliberate, engineered, and strong.
