Bird Eyewear // Collaboration frames that protect more than just your eyes

Masunaga Optical

Bird Eyewear has collaborated with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) to create two distinct performance frames. These unique frames encapsulate our sincere commitment to sustainable fashion and wildlife conservation, concurrently raising awareness and resources for two endangered species.

Bird Eyewear x WWF: The Puffin

The Puffin frame, a product of their collaboration with WWF, is a tangible contribution to the conservation efforts for the cherished Puffin.

The Puffin species is staring at a prospective 90% decrease in its population over the next three decades. Given that the UK houses more than 10% of the global puffin population, we felt a deep-rooted responsibility to craft a fashionable frame that echoes the unique black, white, and orange plumage of this emblematic bird.

Bird Eyewear x RSPB: The Swift

The Swift frame, a product of their collaboration with the RSPB, is a heartfelt effort to safeguard the existence of the Swift, a bird species that holds a symbolic place in Britain’s avifauna.

Swift populations, unfortunately, have been witnessing a notable drop, largely due to habitat destruction and a reduction in breeding success.

This frame encapsulates the unique speed and profile of the Swift, underlining our commitment to conserving these extraordinary birds.

Masunaga Optical

Crafted from a unique plant-based material, our sunglasses offer a lightweight, durable frame that’s eco-friendly and designed for optimal performance. At the heart of these frames is Bird’s Activ-Adjust core technology that promises set-and-stay functionality for a tailor-made, comfortable fit. What’s more, our sunglasses come with hydrophobic anti-glare lenses that not only augment colors but also minimize glare and guarantee top-notch UVA protection. This is genuine eyewear innovation, blending style, comfort, and sustainability.

“We are deeply committed to producing high-quality, stylish eyewear that also contributes to the preservation of our natural world. Our partnerships with the RSPB and WWF align perfectly with this mission, allowing us to create fashionable and eco-conscious sunglasses frames that support crucial conservation efforts for these remarkable birds.”

Ed Bird

Founder, Bird Eyewear

When you buy Swift or Puffin frames, you’re doing more than just purchasing stylish, high-quality sunglasses. A part of your payment goes directly to the respective organizations, contributing to the protection of endangered species. Your purchase isn’t just about shielding your eyes from the sun, it’s also about making a genuine difference to our environment.

The more time we spend looking at nature, the better we feel and the more likely we are to nurture it. That is why Bird Eyewear we believes everyone has the right to see nature and be inspired by it. They craft gorgeous frames from materials that don't trash the planet, from materials like bio-acetate, recycled metals, and repurposed materials.

Their promise is simple: to offer you frames that are easy on the eyes and the earth, from a team that's fighting for you to see more natural beauty, not less.

And that is not just slapping a "green" label on their frames and calling it a day. Being the highest scoring B Corp in the eyewear sector is a big deal. It shows Bird is all in on making a positive impact, socially and environmentally, but it also means they're an open book about their impact, ready to share the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Bird has been refining and redefining their packaging to have minimal impact on the environment since the day they started. Their newest addition is a hexagonal delight to their beloved nest box. They've teamed up with Flexi-hex and use their incredible paper sleeves to keep their Birds snug inside their boxes as they journey to find new faces.

Their boxes and packaging go above and beyond in more ways than one... they are made from over 85% recycled paper pulp while all virgin paper is FSC Certified.
