New Colors to the Limited-Edition Dawg Pound Frames

Erker’s 1879 gives a refresh to their first ever Living Legends Collaboration with the release of four new colorways to their limited-edition Dawg Pound eyeglasses.

Originally released in 2021, the Erker family teamed up with Kevin Kretch, a fashion-forward optical designer and owner of Eyes on Chagrin in Cleveland, Ohio, to create this one-of-a-kind frame. Taking lead on the design of new colors since its creation, the Erkers have introduced three newly designed acetate blends to the frame, Periwinkle, Lagoon, and Quick Sand, as well as a newer favorite from the collection, Tricolor.

Periwinkle & Lagoon

Phasing out the existing eight colorways, the new blends bring a fresh element to this masculine frame.

For an effortlessly cool style, the Periwinkle colorway features a solid purplish-blue hue with a slight transparency to the handcrafted acetate, highlighting the custom wire core within the temple.

A darker, bolder style, the new Lagoon color was designed with a blend of dark grey and rich, mid-toned crystal blues.

Quick Sand & Tricolor

Bringing a more neutral look to the Dawg Pound eyeglass, the Quick Sand and Tricolor blends both feature a crystal acetate mixing warm and cool tones.

Quick Sand, the lightest of the new colorways, was designed with a warm tan crystal along the temple and brow, fading into a classic cool crystal at the lower rims.

Tricolor, an acetate blend first seen in the Spring of 2023, resembles Quick Sand with the crystal acetate at the lower rims, adding a darker tone on the brow and temple and an orange stripe across the center of the rims.

With an affinity for storytelling, the Erkers incorporated elements of theirs and Kretch’s history into the little details of the Dawg Pound eyeglasses. While one temple tip has an emblem of Erker’s 1879’s year of inception, the opposite side features a turntable icon to represent the origins of Kretch’s business in Cleveland, which is well known for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Dawg Pound eyeglasses also takes their name from Kretch, inspired by his love for the Cleveland Browns.

Like each acetate frame from this heritage brand, all color blends are custom designed by the Erker family and exclusive to the Erker’s 1879 collection. Each piece is handcrafted and made to last, held together with a custom German hinge and authentic steel rivets, finished with a special hand-polishing process for an ultra-smooth feel.
