Taisho Bold Titan Top, A Controlled Collision

Within the Architecture of Vision eyewear concept, Taisho Bold Titan Top stands as a study in contrast.

Warm Takiron acetate forms the tactile, organic layer, echoing natural materials in Japanese architecture. Above it, a titanium top line acts as a structural beam, cool and precise, like steel inserted into concrete.

The frame stages a controlled collision, hot versus cold, smooth versus raw, organic volume versus industrial line. Inspired by the Taisho era, where western technology was absorbed into Japanese culture without losing identity, this design balances innovation with atmosphere.

A metallic core becomes the defining element, while updated temples with raw-cut faceting add a modern brutalist character. The new duplex hinge introduces an unprecedented smooth closure, a technical refinement that feels effortless yet highly engineered.

The front functions like a façade, where aluminum and titanium shift roles as light moves across them. One catches the highlight, the other retreats into shadow. Solid and absence, thickness and lightness, texture and smoothness coexist in measured tension.

With Kōji, Miga Studio channels the quiet intensity found in the work of Tadao Ando. Clean planes and controlled lines create frames that feel both strong and weightless.

The interplay of aluminum and beta titanium mirrors the architectural dialogue between solid and void, smooth and textured surfaces, light and shadow. Materials are held in tension, not opposition.

An innovative interaction of solids and voids allows for exceptional flexibility. The new flex hinge remains almost invisible, a quiet mechanism that permits movement while maintaining composure.
