I feel like I’m being unfaithful to leopard by wearing snake print. Does that make me a cheetah?? Anyway, I bought this snake print shirt dress on impulse and wore it first when I went out for a belated Valentine’s dinner with Ian. I like the loose structure and the easy, flowing material. It has pockets too which always add disproportionate value to any dress or skirt. I wore it with the studded ankle boots that are comfortable and flattering because of the cut at the front which reveals the narrowest part of the ankle. Knee-high, flat black boots look great too and I’ll wear it with bare legs and wedge sandals in warmer weather.

The tassel earrings, (very well priced at £10), are  from an online jewellery business called Lucy and Jane. The hoops are sterling silver and the brilliant thing is that they come with the option of extra tassels in different colours (£2.50 per pair).

The Perfect Pair

What’s the perfect pair of glasses to compliment this grey snake print shirt dress? I can think of several options. Self-coloured eyewear would work beautifully; a zingy citrus or bright neon shade would look particularly striking. Cool metallics would also be ideal, especially for the workplace. The top half of the dress has a soft structure so the shape of the glasses should reflect that.

These slightly upswept frames, (Icy 293, by Louis Stone) fit the brief. They have a strong, but not severe, silhouette. And I love the subtle pattern mix, courtesy of the hint of grey leopard; a mix that works because of the tonal shades. (The frame is also available in olive green leopard which looks lovely).
