Manalys x Lunetier Ludovic // Precious frame

When two houses that stand for excellence meet and look for a meeting point between the work of one and that of the other, a unique frame design arises.

Eyewear manufacturer Ludovic Elens and Manalys’ jeweler Moïse Mann were destined to meet each other. The reputation of these exceptional craftsmen is established and both use high standards, tradition, expertise, quality, and sometimes a little madness that makes the difference and enables them to step out of their comfort zone.

This has undoubtedly led them to make a design that perfectly reflects the talent of each of them. A pronounced frame occupied with stones. An original piece with the name High Line that will appeal to both lovers of beautiful frames and lovers of jewelry.

The starting point is the drawing, an essential phase that makes it possible to analyze the proportions, to come up with the perfect shape and to determine the location of the settlements. Then come the first acetate prototypes, which give us a three -dimensional picture of the piece. The two craftsmen speak the same language and meet each other’s technical requirements.

The weight of the object is also one of the factors that must be checked, the glasses must be easy to wear. Then comes the choice of materials. For Ludovic, preference is for a noble material that perfectly reflects the gems selected by Manalys. This had to be native Indian buffalo horn. They had to find the best way to combine it with the metal that the jeweler needed. But those are well -kept secrets!

“When we make an object, we of course think of a customer, someone we can imagine that he is wearing it. Moreover, we have done a number of tests by putting the glasses virtually on different faces. In contrast to other crafts, we have The chance to work with the end customer. We know who bought it and who will wear it. This time the piece is made for a man. A real signature for the man who will be able to buy it.”

An infinitely adaptable idea

Although this first unique piece is very geometric and structured, the two houses already imagine a thousand and one sites to explore. Why no longer make an organic piece? That is just one of the many options. Ludovic is also talking about wood: “As spectacle makers we work with different materials. Our part is the object that can be made of wood, solid gold, turtle, etc.

“This time we opted for diamonds, but next time we can choose colored stones and even play with white, yellow or pink gold at the request of a customer. The future will certainly have more wonderful surprises in have a petto!”

About Lunetier Ludovic

Belgian bespoke eyewear brand Lunetier Ludovic – continuously raising the standards

All of Lunetier Ludovic’s frames are made by hand in his Brussels workshop which is part of the boutique. Only the finest materials are selected: buffalo horn, wood, gold, premium acetate, turtle shell, mother of pearl.

Lunetier Ludovic creations aim to suit their customers’ requirements and individual style. Each bespoke consultation starts with an invitation in the upstairs salon for a conversation on personal taste and preferences. Materials, forms, colours, and finishing are all discussed in detail. A series of precise measurements and photographs then go to the design department where a blueprint of the glasses is created.

In the second stage, clients can choose from a selection of frames designed to fit their unique needs and wishes. Each proposal is projected onto the client’s picture and comes with a cardboard cut-out to try on.

Master craftsmen and women spend multiple days creating, assembling, honing, and polishing each bespoke frame to ensure the best possible result and ultimate finishing. As a final touch, Lunetier Ludovic discretely engraves the bespoke glasses with the customer’s name or message on the inside of the temple arm for a truly unique and personalised result.
