Today, Liam is wearing model “Alu Nine” from the aluminium collection of Helden Optical. A frame for those that are just as much an eyewear geek like their designer Joey and for those that aren’t but will maybe become one after seeing this cool shape!
We love the small detail of the rivets, which point towards each other and give this model a distinctive look. All frames in their Alu collection are deliverable with either acetate or aluminium temples, in a matching colour or in contrast to the front.
Although “champagne” would be an obvious name for this specific colour combination which Liam is wearing, their designer decided to call it “Prosecco”, while these frames are manufactured in the epicentre of the Prosecco region. To maintain this Italian spirit, the other available colours are called Mocca and Nero.

While each model can be delivered with acetate temples, but also with a matching titanium colour, a contrasting aluminium colour temple, the diversity is quite large. Their designer paid minute attention to the colouring of the aluminium so that even after adjusting (which is quite doable due to the thickness of the aluminian which will not shatter) the colours stay nice and smooth.
Helden is Dutch for heroes. This Dutch eyewear brand is proudly made in Europe and its frames are based on the best shapes of the past, the heroes of optical arena.
The attention given to the materials and how they are designed using these lens shapes is what gives this brand its own identity and feel. Many of these fundamental designs have been around since the beginning of glasses and will be around for a long time to come. When you become aware of this knowledge, the most beautiful things arise. That is heroes is what Helden tries to accomplish.
