Earning My Fashion Stripes With Aspinal of London

I spent the Spring Bank holiday weekend up in the North East with my fiance Ian. We went to the Fish Quay in North Shields, somewhere we visited last year. The Fish Quay dates back to the 13th century. Today, it is a truly authentic mix of the working fishing industry and modern bars and restaurants. It is also the largest prawn port in England. We had a wander round, took some photographs, (of course) and went for a glass of wine, (also of course). The photograph above shows the Low Light, a decommissioned lighthouse, in the background.

Summer Stripes

Stripes are a perennial and popular summer favourite, especially the traditional navy and white horizontal stripes of the Breton. My dress is the Twitchill by Hobbs. It’s a fresh and easy breezy way to wear stripes in all directions. The wide waist ties give it a flattering and feminine silhouette and the pockets add the je ne sais quois. It has an unmistakable nod to the nautical, with a touch of the 1950s, and I knew it’d be the perfect dress to wear for our stroll around Fish Quay.

I got my rainbow espadrille wedges very recently. It was love at first sight. I know they’ll become my go-to summer shoe this year. I’m having a few days in Nerja with Poppy and Harry after their exams and a longer holiday with Ian shortly afterwards. These joyous creations will work with everything in my summer wardrobe, both home and abroad, as well as with jeans and cigarette pants. They are very high, very Sophia Webster and very comfortable. And for information, I’d say these Boden rainbow wedges fit true to size. I ordered my usual 41 and they’re perfect.

My little round yellow bag is a gift from my lovely friend Catherine, Not Dressed as Lamb. It always looks fresh and gorgeous, especially when I team it with blue. And the freshwater pearl bracelet is from Pia Jewellery. I won it in an Instagram giveaway a few months ago. I can’t see it online but there is a beautiful selection of jewellery on their website.

The Perfect Pair: Aspinal Sunglasses

What is the perfect eyewear to go with a feminine, summer silhouette? Well it HAS to be a glamorous cat-eye.  These sunglasses are the Amalfi by Aspinal of London. Aspinal eyewear comes under the Eyespace Eyewear umbrella. I met the team and tried these on at Optrafair in April. I fell in love with all of the Aspinal sunglasses, but it was the Amalfi that captured my heart.

The Amalfi is the signature woman’s piece within the Aspinal of London eyewear collection. It’s easy to see why. The design is a beautiful exaggerated Italian-style eye-shape, finished in a glass-like crystal acetate. It is supersized and flamboyant and it features Aspinal’s iconic lion’s head hardware.

These Aspinal sunglasses are without question, THE most glamorous in my collection. I couldn’t love them any more. And I couldn’t love my fiance Ian any more for capturing every detail of my outfit so brilliantly.
