Takaori Eyewear
Japanese eyewear craftsmanship
During Paris Eyewear Week, Takaori Eyewear presented two new models “Yubi and Seijitsu“, that deepen its distinctive aesthetic and philosophy of refined minimalism.
While Yubi embodies sculptural femininity, Seijitsu represents sincerity and strength. Together, they reflect the brand’s mastery of artisanal precision and its unwavering commitment to handmade excellence.
The art of balance of Japanese handcrafted eyewear:
Yubi and Seijitsu
Yubi, named after the Japanese word for elegance, reinterprets the classic cat-eye through bold geometry and architectural fluidity. Its upward sweep and curved lower edge evoke both confidence and grace, while faceted surfaces capture light like carved amber.
Seijitsu, meaning sincerity, redefines the rectangular silhouette with sculptural tension and subtle asymmetry. A straight top line meets softened edges, creating a design that feels grounded yet dynamic—an expression of integrity and authenticity that mirrors the brand’s soul.
Signature elements remain present: sharp-edged surfaces achieved through Takaori’s exclusive hand-polishing technique, mono-block titanium hinges, and a discreet 925 silver family crest, inspired by Samurai heritage. These details celebrate a belief that perfection is born from patience.
A year of thoughtful growth
Since its European debut in September 2024, Takaori has experienced steady growth among discerning optical boutiques and collectors. Its deliberate approach—prioritizing exclusivity and authenticity—has found resonance across markets. After MIDO 2025, the brand expanded representation into France, followed by a strategic partnership in the Netherlands to oversee both Dutch and German territories, officially introduced during BOLD 2025.
“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished in this first year. The number of collaborations is growing slowly but steadily, in line with our philosophy of controlled, selective distribution. Takaori is not just a brand—it’s a vision.
We reject mass production in favour of patience, quality, and purpose. Each piece is the result of hours of manual work, which is why we produce only around 200 units per month. It’s this rarity that gives meaning and strength to what we do.”
With new representation in Italy, France, Belgium, Portugal, the Baltic Region, the Netherlands, and Germany, Takaori’s European presence remains intentionally curated. Each partner is chosen for their ability to appreciate the brand’s quiet discipline and true craftsmanship.
Preserving the soul of Japanese eyewear craftsmanship
September 2025 marked not only the launch of Yubi and Seijitsu, but also a renewed affirmation of Takaori’s values: craftsmanship, patience, and authenticity. Each limited, numbered release continues to express the brand’s minimalist DNA while embracing subtle evolution.
In a landscape often driven by trends and mass production, Takaori remains a beacon of integrity—a brand that treats eyewear as a form of cultural preservation. Every frame is more than an accessory; it is a wearable work of art, a tangible link between past and future, design and devotion.
About Takaori Eyewear:
The artisanal atelier responsible for crafting the exquisite Takaori collection was founded in 1968 in the renowned Fukui Prefecture of Japan, an area famed for its distinguished tradition of eyewear production.
The Manufacturer Company's owner has a captivating ancestral history that dates back to the Middle Ages when his ancestors served as headmen governing a village.
The existence of a Samurai bearing the same family name in a nearby area hints at a possible connection to the noble warrior class. Adding to the intrigue is the family's ownership of a crest with a rare swallowtail butterfly design.
With unwavering dedication, the family upholds the tradition of crafting luxurious optical frames and sunglasses, adorning each piece with their cherished family crest, an emblem that embodies the essence of Japanese artistry and heritage.
