A Fresh Voice in Optics:
Beedie On Eyewear Launches with Style, Honesty, and Heart
Every once in a while, something fresh drops in the optical world that makes you stop scrolling. It’s not just another product push, nor a corporate how-to. It’s real talk—for real optical people.
And the brand-new podcast Beedie On Eyewear is exactly that.
I first met Beedie at the Theo Eyewear London Takeover exhibition, hosted at The Optical Gallery. Camera in hand, she was capturing the atmosphere with sharp storytelling and a clear love for the craft. Since then, she’s grown from optical content creator to qualified optometrist and now, podcast host—giving voice to the kinds of conversations our industry has sorely missed.
Let’s be honest: optical media has long leaned toward clinical deep dives or product features. But what about the human side of our jobs? The lifestyle? The moments we share with clients? Beedie brings that to the forefront. Her podcast shines a light on the daily realities of optical professionals who care deeply about both science and style—and finally, someone is saying it out loud.
🎧 Episode 1: More Than Just Face Shape
The premiere episode, titled “How Important is Face Shape When Choosing Glasses?”, does cover styling fundamentals, but quickly goes deeper. Beedie is joined by Rebecca Thompson, a dispensing optician and eyewear stylist from Eyestyle Studio, known for her honest, fashion-forward content online.
Together, they talk about:
-
How Rebecca found personal and professional confidence through eyewear
-
The tension between clinical practice and personal style—and why both matter
-
Navigating the pressure to “look the part” in optics
-
Social media’s role in reshaping our professional identity
-
Owning your voice, overcoming imposter syndrome, and building a personal brand
Yes, there’s plenty of solid advice on styling and face shape, but the real focus is empowerment, authenticity, and celebrating individuality in a field that can feel rigid.
What’s Next—and Why It Matters
Beedie is not stopping at one good episode. She’s lining up conversations with optometrists, ophthalmologists, stylists, and creators—people who challenge the status quo and keep it stylish while doing so. As a dispensing optician myself, I find this refreshing and long overdue.
This podcast isn’t just entertainment—it’s becoming a resource. A place where professionals can hear their own experiences reflected, discover new perspectives, and feel seen in an industry that doesn’t always leave space for individuality. From eyewear styling to mental health in practice, from fashion to function, this series is already offering a broad and engaging spectrum of content.
Each week, I’ll be tuning in—and sharing my thoughts right here in TEF Magazine. Whether you’re in practice, in school, or in love with independent eyewear, this podcast is one to watch.
So hit play on Episode 1, follow Eyestyle Studio for more inspiration, and support the voices reshaping our industry—one stylish episode at a time.
