DICK MOBY, founded in 2014 by Tim Holland and Robbert Wefers Bettink, two Amsterdam-based surfers and designers, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

This innovative eyewear brand emerged from a vision for a waste-free world and has since been dedicated to producing high-quality glasses and sunglasses exclusively made from biodegradable or recycled materials.

The materials used by Dick Moby include recycled stainless steel for metal frames and biodegradable & recycled acetate for plastic frames. The sunglasses feature UVA/UVB-resistant bio-nylon sun lenses from ZEISS.

All sustainable materials are carefully sourced locally in Europe and come with test certificates. Designed in Amsterdam and handcrafted in Italy, the brand represents a perfect balance of style and sustainability.

Known for successful collaborations with renowned brands such as Colette, NN07,and BMW, and with over 500 points of sale in Europe, Dick Moby has fi rmlyestablished itself in the eyewear industry. The brand’s philosophy extends beyondjust the glasses and is refl ected in accessories like a recycled PET bottle cleaningcloth and recycled leather eyeglass cases.

Limited Edition

In celebration of their 10th anniversary, Dick Moby is introducing a limited special collection of sunglasses crafted from their own surplus stock. In this endeavor, leftover materials from previous collections are repurposed to create a unique pair of sunglasses in a colour scheme that will never be reproduced. The recycling of surplus stock seamlessly aligns with the brand’s vision.

“We are part of the fashion industry, where over-production and waste contribute to significant environmental issues. And that’s something we do not want to be a part of. This unique series comprises two different models, each released in a limited edition of only 69 pieces. They will be available at an exclusive selection of retail outlets”.

Making-of

Following the hilarious making-off video at the time of the brand’s launch, the menbehind Dick Moby have created a new video for the limited edition. Featuring aprominent role for The A-Team, who lent a hand in the making of the sunglasses.

International Recognition

Dick Moby’s mission has not gone unnoticed. “A few years ago, we received a phone call from the buyer of the prestigious fashion house Colette in Paris, informing us that Elton John had just purchased 10 pairs of our pink sunglasses.” shared one of the founders. This highlights the global appeal and relevance of Dick Moby.

Inspiration from the Sea

Nature, especially the sea, remains a fundamental source of inspiration. “We draw inspiration for our collections from the sea, which is evident in each pair of glasses through incorporated wave patterns,” says the design team. This connection with nature is a driving force behind Dick Moby’s ongoing commitment to combining fashion and sustainability.
