Erkers1879 // Spring Styles

This Spring, Erkers1879 was thrilled to introduce nine new eyeglass models to their Roman Numeral V collection. Contrasting the contemporary feel of the Fall styles, the Spring release features a more traditional selection made up of classic rectangles, subtle cat eyes, and rounded squares. Each frame was made in 4 to 5 custom-designed colors for a total of 38 new styles with eight never-before-seen acetate color blends.

Eight of the new models were handcrafted in a 48-step process using Erkers1879’s custom, biodegradable cellulose acetate, supported by a matte silver wire core and authentic stainless-steel rivets.

Of the eight acetate models, there is one men’s style, Marlborough, which features a classic rectangular shape available in five colours, including the brand-new Tricolour acetate blend.

Riverview, a unisex eyeglass, blends a classic keyhole bridge with a modern rounded square shape, available in the new Lake Water colour, along with three other options.

The remaining six acetate models are all women’s frames, designed using a mix of rectangles, ovals, and cat eyes with a sophisticated, feminine style.

The ninth model, Velda City, was crafted using surgical stainless steel. This elegant cat-eye frame features a thin, minimalistic design and comes in four classic colours: Gold, Gun, Silver, and Burgundy. Decorative elements throughout the frame give Velda City that distinctive Erkers1879 look, from the year of inception lightly etched on the bridge interior to the subtle cross-hatching adorning the temple tips. Aside from their timeless style, a lightweight, comfortable feel is a priority in the design of each frame, ensuring each is easily adjustable for a perfect fit while durable enough to keep up with the demands of everyday life.

As a family-owned brand with a rich history in St. Louis, the Erkers pride themselves on storytelling throughout their collections. Each new release features elements relating to the history of the brand and the Erker family, like the Roman numeral V on the temple tips to symbolize the collection and the number of generations to run the family business, as well as their year of inception found throughout the designs. Each frame gets its name from an area throughout St. Louis, honoring the city that started it all.
