Introducing recently launched eyewear brand CONES & RODS, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

CONES & RODS provide luxury, scientifically inspired eyewear that is both sustainable and ethical according to global standards. Founded by friends Faye El-seif and Dalal Almousa over their shared passion for vintage eyewear, the CONES & RODS journey actually started three years ago.

We both collect vintage and exclusive eyewear pieces; three years ago we wanted to be collectors of rare eyewear and then distribute it across the GCC. We then realised we would rather create our own designs, putting in the details and designs that we didn’t find in the market.

With the advent of ‘fast fashion’, the amount of waste and energy has amplified. CONES & RODS are on a mission to inspire a movement within our society as well as the global eyewear industry. Roughly over 50% of all eyewear made in the world gets thrown away, with this in mind CONES & RODS make sure to only create a limited quantity of each style to keep waste down.

With an eye for change the collection currently includes four styles; Adah, Alhazen, Gibran and Zaha. Each pair within the collection is designed and named after an inspirational person of Arab origin who has done something wonderful for the world. People referenced in the first collection are architect Zaha Hadid, scientist Dr. Adah Almutairi, poet Gibran Khalil Gibran and ‘father of optics and vision theory’ AlHazen.
