Our catwalk show is always massively popular, and now we have added the 2020 Future Series we have some real practical insights and thought leadership. Our goal is to equip optical retailers with the tools to flourish. Our long term future is intrinsically linked to the success of the optical sector – we know how important it is and we also know how tough it is. I hope these new seminars will help equip opticians for the next decade.[/perfectpullquote]

2020 is set to be a landmark year for the optical industry, and each discussion will look at the opportunities the future holds, including how practices will change with advancements in technology; how independent opticians can be at the heart of the rebirth of the high street; and how fashion and retail trends will evolve in the next decade.

The talks within ‘The 2020 Future Series’ will take place at the seated catwalk area of the UK’s largest optical event, and will feature a selection of key individuals from around the UK and around the world. Their expertise have been sought based on the feedback from visitors on key topics they would like to hear about at the event, outside of 100% Optical’s extensive clinical CET programme delivered by the AOP.

Highlights include TEF Entourage blogger Carole Riehl, an eyewear influencer and optician from Paris, and creator of Optic For Good, who will be discussing how to become a sustainable optician; Julian Clarke from Curoptic, who will be helping visitors understand the foundation that underpins a future business strategy; DOs Katie Memory and Jamie Edney will candidly share their practice‐building methods that helped them reach, engage and delight their affluent client bases; and TEF Entourage journalist Daniel Feldman from US based The Optical Journal, who will be sharing the top tips on harnessing the power of social media for your business.

Leading intelligence provider Euromonitor will be returning to the show, with Miles Agbanrin, a Senior Optical Sector Analyst, who will demystify the strategic changes impacting eyewear retail and identify key threats and opportunities. This will be followed by a debate with optical retailers and designer Jason Kirk, and Katharina Schlager, new CEO of Cazal, with a focus on increasing your sales in a competitive marketplace.
