Opti 2020 // Focus on contact lenses

Technical innovations in terms of contact lens material or performance: At opti, taking place from 10 to 12 January 2020 at the Fairground Munich, trade visitors can discover all of the new developments on the market. Hall C6, which serves as the entrance to opti 2020 and can be reached through the Entrance North-West, will accommodate 25 exhibitors focusing on the topic of contact lenses and contact lens supplies.

Freedom of movement and stylish independence:

Having shed their image as hard-to-use and unpleasant-to-wear products, modern-day contact lenses offer numerous benefits for over three million people around the world. Nowadays, contact lenses constitute a popular visual aid and an equivalent alternative or addition to glasses. We would like to introduce you to five companies that will be presenting their new products to opti 2020 visitors in Munich at the start of the year.

A varied product range: CooperVision

CooperVision plans to prove its expertise on a number of different topics at opti 2020: In addition to the improved clariti® 1-day lens range, the company will discuss the growth and solution potential in the area of dropout, in line with its future communication approach “In the blink of an eye”. With CooperVision advantage™, CooperVision is offering its customers a comprehensive package of marketing tools. On top of this, the company is presenting the concept of an integrated shop system for the first time. This entails integrating contact lenses into the retail store in such a way that the product, invisible to consumers in the past, becomes visible and tangible in a completely natural and emotional way. “By exhibiting at opti 2020 in Munich, we want to reinforce our strategic orientation. We are a partner for stationary traders and will continue to support them with the most innovative and varied product portfolio on the market. opti is the meeting point for all specialist traders, making it an incredibly important networking platform”, says Jérôme Kuzio, Head of Marketing DACH at CooperVision, looking ahead to opti 2020.

seefree and mylife: Hecht Contactlinsen

Hecht will come to opti 2020 with full luggage: seefree®, a one-of-a-kind ortho-k product, is just one of the products they will be introducing to the trade visitors in Munich. The special feature of these lenses is their fitting. A software calculates the initial suggestion for individual seefree® lenses before the contact lens fitter can select and optimise the rear ortho-k surface. The company will also be discussing contact lenses that prevent short-sightedness. With the innovative myLIFE concept, Hecht enables contact lens fitters to build on their expertise and offer optimal care for children and teenagers. Having in-depth and personal conversations with customers is particularly important to Dieter Muckenhirn, CEO of Hecht Contactlinsen GmbH: “The sense of security of resorting to tried-and-tested ways, embarking on new paths together – this results in an inspiring collaboration that we want to initiate, expand, or maintain at opti.”

New product concept and an app: Menicon

Menicon is the only company in the world that offers both ortho-k as well as soft contact lenses specifically approved for controlling myopia in Europe. In the spring of 2020, Menicon will launch the Bloom™ Myopia Control Management System in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and plans to introduce this at opti 2020. It constitutes a comprehensive concept on myopia management that comprises three product groups and is rounded off by fitting software. A special service to top things off: An app simplifies the communication between fitters and contact lens wearers. Attending opti 2020 is very important to this contact lens manufacturer: “We want to present our portfolio of products and services to a broad audience and of course stay in touch with our existing customers. In addition, we hope our offer can win over many new customers”, says Ellen Fries, Head of Marketing and Professional Service.

Birthday surprises and several debuts: MPG&E

Not only is MPG&E, the independent distribution partner for opticians and ophthalmologists, celebrating its 20th anniversary at opti 2020, the company will also be presenting products with particularly great potential for the future: Visitors can look forward to learning about two contact lenses for managing myopia in children and teenagers, DreamLens, a contact lens that boosts the wearer’s vision at night, and several product debuts. “opti is a stage that allows you to present yourself to the optical industry in a unique way. The trade show facilitates personal contact with customers and suppliers, which is particularly important. For MPG&E, a stand at opti serves as a kind of mobile head office that allows such interactions to take place”, Fabian Hasert, CEO of MPG&E, describes the company’s presence in Munich. “Our team hopes that the trade show will be as successful as last year’s.” In addition, the specialist audience can look forward to birthday surprises in the form of exclusive trade show offers that will only be available at opti.

New materials and an anniversary: SwissLens

SwissLens is fully dedicating itself to the areas of myopia management and new contact lens materials at opti 2020. For as many as 10 years, SwissLens has offered various effective and tested options for eye specialists. The topic of myopia management goes hand in hand with orthokeratology. That is why SwissLens has expanded its product portfolio in this area and will be presenting a special contact lens for both myopia management and orthokeratology. But it will also introduce further product variants as well as two new contact lens materials: One of these is the new silicon-hydrogel Unisil, which stands out in the areas of tear resistance, handling, compatibility, optical quality, and improved fitting properties. The company will also be showing a new material for hard contact lenses at opti 2020: the new, extremely gas-permeable Optimum Infinite material. “For us Swiss producers of individual lenses, it is very important to come to Munich and present our innovations. In our digital age, opti offers a good opportunity to come into direct contact with our customers, hear their wishes and suggestions, and have discussions with them. Furthermore, we use the trade show to run workshops and hold lectures on various topics in order to share our knowledge with our customers”, says CEO Philippe Käppeli.
