100% Optical 2024 announces education programme and priority booking process

Organisers of 100% Optical 2024 have announced that the launch of its first batch of CPD education programme sessions are live today (24th October 2023) with the second and third phases set to launch in the weeks to come.

To avoid double bookings and to ensure everyone has an opportunity to attend CPD sessions at the UK’s largest optical event, bookings will take place in January, with priority booking for AOP members before opening to registered delegates. Some capacity will be held back for walk-ins at the show.

AOP priority bookings will be available on 3rd January 2024, with ABDO priority booking from 11th and 12th January, ahead of sessions becoming available for all remaining visitors on 13th January.

This new booking process was tried and tested successfully during the last 100% Optical event for delegates to book their places at the hugely popular CPD sessions well in advance but also during the show depending on their interest and availability.

The world-class education programme including over 140 hours of CPD sessions across 13 diverse hubs will once again be orchestrated from 24th-26th February 2024 at ExCeL London in collaboration with the AOP, the event’s long standing education partner.

With content commissioned to meet the needs of all practitioner types including the wider practice team, the education offering has been curated to allow attendees to fulfil the requirements of their professional development scheme.

Across the three-day show, a myriad of topics and opportunities will be available, with sessions including keynote lectures, discussion workshops, peer reviews and interactive poster trails across a variety of different hubs. Key topics will showcase myopia management, advances in clinical imaging, including the role of artificial intelligence, and dry eye disease.

Some of the CPD highlights include:

Main Stage

Day One – The Wheel of Misfortune – A session that takes a look at the common reasons for clinical negligence claims with case examples in the style of a well known 90s game show.

Day Two – Giles Edmonds will explain why glaucoma is a particular concern, describing the scale of glaucoma detection and referral that Specsavers is engaged with.

Day Three – Ocular Allergy – This lecture will provide an overview of the classification, epidemiology, clinical signs and symptoms, diagnostics and treatments available for ocular allergy.

AOP Lounge

A series of peer review sessions will take place across the three days and will also feature content delivered by CooperVision and Johnson & Johnson Vision.

Future Practice Hubs sponsored by SpaMedica and New Medica

This area will feature a range of clinical sessions in four distinct areas.

Dispensing Workshop

Peer reviews will involve topics such as available products in the UK market for myopia management, and three cases will be discussed that cover an adult with learning disabilities, a child with autism and a patient with low vision.

Optical Academy sponsored by Sense Medical | Canon

This hub will have a jam-packed itinerary of activities and discussion workshops including Revolutionising ophthalmology: leveraging artificial intelligence for optimal resource allocation in patient care.
