The Ultimate Luxury Eyewear Event l The London-i

Last month was the second instalment of ‘The London-i’ private luxury eyewear event. Our crew from ‘The Optical Gallery’ were on the ground to attend and document this boujee experience. Brands such as; Cazal, Balmain, and Chrome Hearts were present, each showcasing their fabulous collections. The event was attended by various industry experts, including Francesca Chapman, the founder of Chapman Agency, and Simon, the editor of Opticians Magazine.

The UK representative for John Dahlia, Amos, introduced the brand’s latest collection, the ‘Rise’ collection. The entire brand features pieces that include 22 Kt Gold plated and are described as pieces of jewellery. As Amos says ‘Luxury eyewear should be treated like luxury items such as watches. They go through the same processes as Diamond setters and master Jewellers and they are an item that can be worn every day, so they should not be disregarded. An important message for all opticians to preach and educate the public.

A new brand that has cemented its name in the luxury eyewear market, Akoni Eyewear, was also in attendance at The London-i. The brand was launched in 2020 by Rosario Toscano and co-founders of Dita Jeff Solario and John Juniper. The frames are handmade in Japan and some feature design details such as adjustable temples.

Simon, the editor of Opticians Magazine, shared his favourite eyewear brand, Kirk and Kirk. He explained his love of their colours and the lightweight feel for such bold shapes making them some of his most comfortable frames to wear. He also mentioned Dita, Cutler and Gross, and Mykita as sunglasses brands he admires.

Finally, Simon shared exciting news about Opticians Magazine. The publication will be releasing a new issue of Eyestyle Magazine, their product for high-end luxury independent eyewear, and will also be launching a podcast.

Overall, The London-i eyewear event in London was a fantastic opportunity for industry experts and enthusiasts to come together and explore some of the latest luxury eyewear collections, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for this part of our eyewear industry.
