Austrian eyewear brand NEUBAU EYEWEAR has announced that it will be launching its new special edition “Transition” in April 2022. The new collection features two sustainable sunglasses models with an avant-garde design and high-contrast color schemes. These models showcase the sustainable premium brand’s inspiration for the collection, which draws on themes of breaking free from the past and starting anew.
Each model represents a moment that appears to be frozen in time until it is propelled into the future by an unstoppable desire to reinvent itself. Capturing the spirit of new beginnings, which is at the heart of the collection, NEUBAU EYEWEAR channels the first rays of dawn as they pierce the darkness of the night sky. This moment of transition, in which the night becomes a new day, is expressed in both models, Xenon, and Neon, through their futuristic designs, mirrored lenses, and high-contrast neon-colored accents.
Yet it’s not just their appearance that makes these special edition sunglasses so futuristic. They are also crafted using ultramodern sustainable technologies. Each pair is 3D-printed using the brand’s own 100% plant-based material, natural3D. The finishing touch is a linear titanium element, a fascinating detail that adds a colorful spark. With this year’s special edition collection, NEUBAU is calling for a transition towards a new, sustainable way of thinking about how we treat the planet and the people, especially in the fashion industry.
Yet it’s not just their appearance that makes these Special Edition sunglasses so futuristic. Based on innovative sustainability technology, the glasses are made from 100% plant-based material natural3D using 3D printing. Obtained from non-genetically modified castor oil beans, this
bio-based polymer is processed in a modern 3D-printing process with a no-waste method. This process ensures the production of robust and durable eyewear frames leaving an extremely small ecological footprint.
The finishing touch of this year’s Special Edition is a linear titanium element, a fascinating detail that adds a colorful spark. High-quality beta-titanium is sourced from selected suppliers in Japan and can be produced in a sustainable way while being easy to recycle and extremely robust. By combining natural3D and beta titanium for the first time, NEUBAU creates a Special Edition that carries characteristics such as elasticity, strength, and durability.

The two new special edition models, Xenon and Neon, will be available starting in April 2022, in the colors Black, Black/Lime, Black/Purple, and Black/White, retailing at €500.

The campaign for Transition was conceived and created by South Africa-based photographer Nadia von Scotti. Her special connection with nature and design resulted in a series of stunning images in which the new special edition models are presented in the many different scenes of the South African landscape. The photographs were taken at night and at dawn to capture the moment of transition.
