At Silmo Paris, we had super short #TEFtalk with Eva Gaumé, art director of the amazing avant-garde brand Emmanuelle Khanh. She showed us their latest collab with artist Maitrepierre, who helped create a pair of hybrid sunglasses, which are both wearable, exceptional and Couture. This unique frame design got nominated for this years Silmo d’Or awards and will most certainly turn a few heads this upcoming season.
“The Comb” is an exclusive Emmanuelle Khanh x Maitrepierre limited edition sunglass collaboration, made entirely by hand in France, has dropped exclusively online on Emmanuelle Khanh & Maitrepierre
All sunglasses from this limited edition collection are made in France, or more precisely, in Oyannax – a historical location for cellulose derived acetate, obtained by plasticising cotton flakes and cellulose from wood. The pearl finish green shell is made exclusively for Emmanuelle Khanh by unique acetate manufacturers in France. The darker shade, as well as the panther acetate and toned glasses, are manufactured in Italy by traditional craftsmen.
“The Comb” combines in just one single, entirely handmade object, the savoir-faire of eyewear as well as an item used for grooming. Every pair of sunglasses comes with its own cleaning cloth, in a made to measure print by Maitrepierre, curated using recycled microfibre fabric.
