MIDO 2026 Vision Stage

Eyewear conferences and talks at MIDO

At MIDO 2026, innovation is not limited to materials, machinery or collections. It also takes shape through conversation. The MIDO 2026 Vision Stage, located in Hall 1, is where the eyewear industry pauses to reflect on the forces shaping its future, from geopolitics and sustainability to inclusion, leadership and eye health.

Across three days, the Vision Stage programme positions eyewear within a wider cultural, social and economic context. It connects design and retail to global realities, making clear that the future of eyewear is influenced as much by ideas as by products.

Saturday, January 31

Leadership, geopolitics and SS27 eyewear trends

The opening day of the MIDO 2026 Vision Stage begins with Walk the Talk, a conversation on leadership and courage featuring Daniele Cassioli and Pasquale Gravina. Their discussion explores responsibility, resilience and decision making through real lived experience.

The global perspective deepens with A changing world, where journalist Monica Maggioni and futurist Alec Ross analyse how economics and geopolitics are reshaping markets worldwide, including the eyewear sector. The day concludes with LIVETREND, unveiling SS27 eyewear trends in colours, shapes and materials, offering strategic insight for designers, brands and buyers.

Sunday, February 1

Inclusion, conflict and children’s vision

Sunday’s programme places social responsibility at the centre of the Vision Stage at MIDO 2026. Cultural icon Drusilla Foer leads a session on inclusion and language, examining how communication choices directly influence accessibility and representation within eyewear.

Later, geopolitical analyst Dario Fabbri addresses global conflict and market instability, offering context that extends far beyond short term industry trends. The day closes with a vital discussion on pediatric vision care, bringing opticians, pediatricians and ophthalmologists together to focus on children’s eye health.

Monday, February 2

Data, sustainability and environmental impact

The final day of the MIDO 2026 Vision Stage grounds the conversation in research and action. A preview of a European eye health and eyewear market study by NielsenIQ provides data-driven insight into the current landscape and future direction of the industry.

Sustainability takes focus with Designing the future: ecodesign, featuring Luca Casarotto, Anna Pellizzari and Anna Zandanel, who explore sustainable materials and innovative processes. The programme concludes with a practical workshop by Certottica, addressing microplastics, environmental impact and concrete solutions for the eyewear industry.

A clear signal from MIDO 2026

The MIDO 2026 Vision Stage is more than a conference area. It is a statement of intent. Eyewear does not exist in isolation, and its future will be shaped by global forces, societal change and environmental responsibility. By placing these discussions at the heart of the show, MIDO confirms that the future of eyewear will be defined by context, awareness and dialogue, as much as by design.

The Vision Stage runs throughout MIDO 2026 in Hall 1. Got your pass yet? Registrations are open: reserve your place!
