Liebestraum Eyewear is not afraid of the dark. With EIGENGRAU, its Summer 2025 collection, the brand dives into the shade between light and shadow,  a muted gray that speaks of confidence, calm, and introspection.

The German word Eigengrau translates to “intrinsic light,” describing the subtle darkness perceived when no light exists. For founder Jordane Wheatley, this hue embodies both mundanity and possibility, a blank canvas where creativity takes form.

This concept forms the backbone of the collection: an exploration of elevated mundanity, where eyewear becomes a universal object,  designed to go with anything, yet stand out through its intent and structure.

Confident shyness, refined into form

Each of the four frames in the EIGENGRAU collection represents what Wheatley calls “confident shyness — or shyness in confidence.” The campaign mirrors this mood, set in near-futuristic interiors where brutalism meets minimalism. Shot in metropolitan environments, the imagery reflects LIEBESTRAUM Eyewear’s deliberate visual codes — raw, structured, and purposefully restrained, built for lasting emotional and aesthetic impact.


Craftsmanship meets concept

Every piece in the EIGENGRAU line is meticulously handcrafted, using Mazzucchelli BioCell acetate and High Grade Titanium — materials chosen for their durability, tactility, and elegance. Production is handled in collaboration with the former Tom Davies manufacturing team, the same experts behind the eyewear in the original Matrix trilogy.

Beyond design, LIEBESTRAUM Eyewear remains true to its eco-conscious values. Each frame is created in limited quantities from recycled materials, minimizing waste while maximizing intention. All sunglasses include UV400 protection, blending aesthetics with uncompromising technical performance.


The anatomy of a concept

LIEBESTRAUM’s creative process begins with words — each model name gives birth to its own visual identity. From the Brille, a sporty wrap-around design evoking goggle functionality, to the Lehrer, a slim titanium optical frame, every piece translates language into form. The Sekretar channels the charisma of an undercover agent, while the Anonym extends into a dramatic, nightmask-inspired silhouette.

Together, they illustrate LIEBESTRAUM Eyewear’s universal design philosophy, one that merges poetic storytelling with industrial precision.
