This September, the Optical Women’s Association (OWA) is set to make an important mark at Silmo Paris 2025 with the launch of a new international initiative.
The OWA is expanding its presence beyond the U.S. and will host the OWA Global Event Paris on Friday, bringing together some of the industry’s most influential women for a panel that promises both inspiration and insight.
Seeing Beyond: The Power of Women in Optical Innovation
Under the banner “Seeing Beyond: The Power of Women in Optical Innovation”, the event will highlight the voices shaping the future of the industry. Facilitated by Nancy Gries, Chair of the OWA International Expansion Committee, the powerhouse panel features:

The conversation will span critical topics such as technology, artificial intelligence, human resources, sustainability, and vision health—showcasing how women are at the forefront of driving meaningful change in optical innovation.
The session opens with an introduction from Amelie Morel Martin, President of SILMO and Director of Communications for Morel, underscoring SILMO’s role in supporting this international expansion of the OWA.
Networking, Inspiration, and a Global Outlook
Beyond the panel, attendees can expect networking opportunities and a celebratory champagne toast, thanks to the gracious sponsorship by SILMO Paris. The event will also serve as a gateway to learn more about OWA’s international activities, with committee members and current members on site to answer questions about upcoming initiatives.
