At FUNKeyewear the entire crew is very proud of what they are creating – and they also want to raise the opticians’ and end customers’ awareness of who actually made their glasses. Therefore, it is not a surprise, that the FUNKmanufactory workshop is open for visitors who will then discover, how many steps are actually necessary to make just one pair of specs. And of course, how passionate the frame-makers around Dieter Funk and Sashee Schuster are about their work.
It all began almost 30 years ago. Colourful glasses and wicked frames formed the founding stone of FUNKsunglasses in 1992. With their specs, Sashee Schuster and Dieter Funk hit smack dab in the heart of the zeitgeist and of the Techno scene in early 90s Berlin. Today, FUNK is one of the last real spectacle-frame-making manufactories in Germany. There, spectacles are made according to traditional craftsmanship as well as with highest quality standards and sustainable conditions. Dieter Funk and his wife Sashee Schuster use e.g. recycled acetate or vintage acetate and even natural materials for their collections.
Specs by DIETER FUNK are a clear statement due to their bold shapes. They are individual objects of style, designed and hand-made in Kinsau, Germany. Designer SASHEE SCHUSTER uses real natural material in her feminine and playful models. She creates truly unique specs, designed and hand-made in Kinsau, Germany.
