The brand was born out of a need, during a dinner with friends, when the wine label, written in body eight, is impossible to read. Intuition becomes an entrepreneurial reality when one realizes that the market does not answer comprehensively all vision problems. Whilst from around 45 years old, our eye lens loses its elasticity creating a slight difficulty in focusing closely, a physiological condition called presbyopia. The frame definitively solves visual problems at a proximal distance. It is estimated that in 2020 almost one in 4 adults will need close-reading glasses and only today, in Italy there are 20 million.

Fassamano is designed by Cristiana Vannini, designer and art director of Fassamaneria srl, which owns the brand. The shapes are inspired by the examples of the past and adapted in a bold and contemporary unisex model. Fassamano was born in 1300 in Venice and reached its maximum diffusion in the 1700s; its name derives from the French face à main. From France to the rest of Europe, a slight sight defect turns into a magnificent opportunity to exhibit a precious object. It is a Made in Italy product, handcrafted in the Venetian eyewear district. The frames are in Mazzucchelli 1849 acetate, Computer Numerical Control and hand polished; the metal part is in laser-cut german silver with galvanic treatments and protective paint.

The frame weighs only 20 grams, is available in 9 colours and textures and guarantees a correction of presbyopia from +1 to +3.5 dioptres. It is adaptable with customized prescription lenses thanks to the exclusive barrel closure, designed and created ad hoc. The Fassamano Sun collection with photochromic lenses completes the collection.

Chains, charms and brooches with cabochons enrich the frame and transform it into an even more refined jewel. The complements line includes two capsule collections by Sharra Pagano and Laura B Collection Particulièr.

Fassamano is also the winner of the Golden ‘A Design Award and Competition 2019 in the Jewellery, Eyewear and Watch Design category, which awards the best design project for quality, innovation and sustainability.
